The management of SIC Insurance has promised to provide insurance cover for all Premier League players in the country.

The acting Managing Director (MD) of the insurance giants, Mr Faris Attrickie, made the disclosure when he led a delegation from his outfit and the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) to visit the injured Kumasi Asante Kotoko players at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital following their road accident last week.

He told the media and some players of the Porcupine Warriors later that their visit was to show solidarity with the team and to assure them of various insurance packages they had put in place to support them.

The acting MD also stated that SIC Insurance, in collaboration with PFAG, started working on the project three years ago and launched it last year under PFAG’s “Life after Football Fund”.

Mr Attrickie explained that the insurance cover would provide benefits for both temporary and permanent disabilities, death and other defined situations for the benefit of players plying their trade in the Ghana Premier League.

For his part, the General Secretary of the PFAG, Mr Anthony Baffoe, commended SIC Insurance for its role and called on all football administrators, players and other stakeholders to continue to support the initiative to breathe life into the domestic game.
