Zaza arrived for his medical on Friday afternoon, meaning he was registered too late to be available for Slaven Bilic, who brings his Hammers to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday for a tough test against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Bilic previously expressed his delight at striking the Zaza deal, saying in his pre-match press conference that a deal was close and that it was a huge boost because of the injuries to Andre Ayew and Andy Carroll up front.

"As far as I know, the deal is agreed between the clubs, he said. The personal terms are also agreed and he is due in London today, so we hope it will be done.

"It's very positive and it's a boost. We've been trying for a long time now to get a top-quality striker and he was always mentioned."

Zaza set to become a Hammer.
