Simone Zaza Eyeing West Ham Exit After Just 2 Months Due to Criticism From English Media

Published on: 13 October 2016

Simone Zaza is ready to call time on his brief career at West Ham United - with media criticism the major reason why he wants to end his stay in England.

Italian news outlet Calciomercato reported that the striker is fed up at being labelled a failure by the British press since joining the Hammers on loan.

The publication claims that "criticism from the tabloids" has led Zaza to the conclusion that he will not be given time to prove his ability as a footballer, and is already eyeing a January exit after only signing for West Ham on a season-long loan back in August.

Spanish newspaper Levante EMV has already linked Valencia with a winter transfer window swoop for the Italy international, while AC Milan are also believed to be monitoring his situation.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic's insists that Zaza just needs time to adapt to the rigours of English top flight football, but whether he is given ample time to do so remains to be seen.

Rumours in the press have also speculated that West Ham will have to pay Zaza's parent club Juventus a reported fee of £20m to make his loan move permanent if the 25-year-old plays another 10 matches, with the apparent clause in the deal stipulating that Zaza must complete a switch to the London stadium after making 14 appearances for the Irons.

Zaza has turned out five times for West Ham so far this term, but is yet to find the back of the net, or lay on a goal for a team-mate, during that time.

The Hammers' faithful are believed to already have written off the forward as a waste of money, while Zaza has also failed to shake off criticism surrounding his horrendous penalty miss for Italy at the Euro 2016 Championship in France.
