Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has showered praise on Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool revolution.
The German coach has the Reds looking like world beaters this season, and they are serious contenders for the Premier League title. Sitting third on the table and tied on points with both of the teams above them, the Anfield side have progressed to the EFL Cup quarter-finals.
Sir Alex spent over quarter of a century in charge of United, and came up against several Liverpool managers during his time. He never faced Klopp, but admits that he is full of admiration for the former Dortmund boss, who has given the team a real identity.
Speaking to Kicker (H/T theLiverpool Echo), he said:He has done a really good job and revived Liverpool's enthusiasm.
It can happen that big clubs lose it. For two decades, Liverpool changed managers without building their own identity.
You can now well and truly sense that you have to count them in this year.
You can see Klopp's dedication on the sideline -- I'm convinced his work in training is similar. He's a strong personality. That's absolutely vital at a big club.�
Back in December, Ferguson claimed that he was worried that the German would take Liverpool over United.
I'm worried about him because the one thing United don't want is Liverpool to get above us,� he remarked.
He's a fantastic personality, with those big white teeth always showing. Even at Newcastle when they lost the second goal he goes over to Steve McClaren to congratulate him. That's class, that. And the work he did at Dortmund.
I know him quite well from the coaching seminars. He's going to make a difference at that club with his personality, drive and knowledge. Things are looking up there.�
Well as things stand, Liverpool are above the Red Devils, who are in seventh place on the table and trail by six points. The teams recently played out to a 0-0 draw, but the Reds are by far the better team this season.
