SK Sturm Graz defender Gideon Mensah delighted with Black Meteors win over Algeria

Ghana U-23 defender Gideon Mensah has expressed his delight following the 1-0 win over Algeria in U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Skipper Yaw Yeboah's strike in the 69th-minute Ibrahim Tanko’s men an unlikely win away from home, progressing 2-1 on aggregate against the North African country at the Setif Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Black Meteors were held to a 1-1 draw by the Fennec Foxes last Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium before traveling to Algeria to seal a 1-0 win.

Ghana will join seven other teams and hosts Egypt for the final tournament from November 8 to 22.

Egypt  (Hosts), Zambia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, South Africa, and Mali are the other qualified teams.

Afcon will, in turn, serve as qualifiers for next year's Tokyo Olympic Games, with the top three teams in Egypt set to represent Africa at the global showpiece.

Ghana has not qualified for the Olympic football event since 2004.
