West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic is reportedly set to hold a meeting with Dimitri Payet in a bid to convince him to stay at the club after the France international hinted at a possible January exit, according to theMirror.

The 29-year-old's immediate future at the club has become increasingly unclear since dropping a hint earlier this week that he could be open to amove during the January transfer window.

He was quizzed by French media and told them:Leave in January? I'm asking other questions right now, but I haven't closed the door to anything.

Until now, I always chose my clubs depending on the sports project. I work like that. Until I can play at a level like this, it will be the case.

Go to Paris Saint-Germain or [return to] Marseille? For now, they have not come to me, so I do not ask myself.

It is now understood manager Slaven Bilic will hold a meeting with the former Marseille star and emphasise how much the club needs him, according to the Mirror, with the Croatian keen to keep hold of the club's prized asset.

A fans' favourite up until now, Payet has risked the wrath of the Hammers' support, with some already criticising the player's actions. Bilic's side are just one point from the relegation zone after their 1-1 draw at home to Stoke, with crowd trouble at their new London stadium a further recurring problem.

Payet, who signed a new five-and-a-half year contract worth £125k-a-week back in January, hinted that the move from Upton Park to the Olympic stadium has played a part in their current demise.

He said: We've had a very poor start. We find ourselves in a difficult position. We are going to try to climb back into the top half of the table.

It is clear that after all the years in the mythical stadium of Upton Park, it is a new start.

"We have a stadium that is a lot more modern, and a lot colder, it is true. But it is the start of a revolution at the club and we have to get used to it and make this stadium a strong point for us.
