AZ Alkmaar striker Myron Boadu confessed that the sacking of head coach Arne Slot is weird but he understands the decision.
Following a string of poor results, the AZ Alkmaar board gave Slot his marching orders.
In an interview with De Volkskrant, Boadu revealed the style of play of the coach and gave his thoughts about the sacking.
“It’s a shame. It all went great at AZ, Arne is a fantastic person and a fantastic trainer, who really let us play football in the style of Manchester City or Barcelona in the good times.”
“I think the old trainer could have kept his focus on AZ, but I understand the board that this is not possible. Arne may have handled it a little wrong. But I am also very grateful to him. It is just strange.”
Boadu recently recovered from COVID-19 and is working his way back into the team.
