Socceroos ready to wow in Brisbane

Australia attacker Robbie Kruse is excited to be going into a friendly against South Korea as the Socceroos step up their preparations for the defence of the Asian Cup.

It is the Socceroos' first game at home in more than a year, and Kruse is looking forward to showing fans the new flexibility across the front third that coach Graham Arnold has introduced.

The 30-year-old says following Tim Cahill's retirement, the team are looking to share the goals around and have been given a licence to attack by new coach Arnold.

"Now we're a lot more flexible in the way we play. We have a structure but we have freedom to express ourselves, rotate positions and across the front line we're really narrow and we get into goal scoring positions more than what we used to," said the Bochum striker.

"With a new coach you get a new philosophy, new kind of atmosphere around the team and it's been first class since Arnie's come on board."

Arnold's appointment, after Bert van Marwijk took the Socceroos through the World Cup in Russia, has brought the excitement back into the team, according to Kruse.

"Every time we put on the jersey it's the biggest honour but you have to be able to enjoy the moment also and we've really honed in on that in the last few camps," he added. "It started perfectly last game and I think we'll continue that tomorrow."

After facing the Koreans at Suncorp Stadium, Arnold's side will head to Sydney to take on Lebanon at ANZ Stadium on Tuesday.

Australia are 19/20 to beat South Korea, who are 16/5 with the draw 12/5.

The Socceroos are 5/1 to win 1-0.
