Sofiane Boufal Dedicates Sunderland Stunner to Southampton Teammates and Fans

Southampton's record signing Sofiane Boufal has thanked the club for their support after scoring the winner in his team'sEFL 4th round match against Sunderland on Wednesday night.


Boufal showed why Southampton forked out £21m for the Moroccan as his superb first touch was followed by a stunning shot that flew into the top corner, as he marked his debut for the club with a brilliant match winning goal.

The attacking midfielder joined Claude Puel's side in the summer from Ligue 1 outfit Lille but missed the first few months of the season through injury.


Last night's first appearance for the club will have excited Saints' fans and they will hope that Boufal can continue to produce match winning moments like he did against the Black Cats.


Speaking after the game, the Moroccancould not contain his delight and dedicated the goal to everyone at St Marys. Hetold the club'swebsite: "It was a beautiful goal and I'm so happy to score my first goal at St Mary's.

"I want to say thank you for the support of all the fans who came. I'm so happy to play 90 minutes as it's good for the confidence and for my body. It was a great night for me.The spirit is very strong. My team-mates are so happy for me because they see me come into the club when I couldn't play.


"Now they see me score this goal and they're happy for me so I'd like to say thank you to them and to all the medical staff. The goal isn't just for me it's for everyone."


Boufal will now hope to make his first Premier League start against Chelsea this weekend as Southampton look to continue their 6 match unbeaten run in the league.
