Solskjaer hopeful on injured duo

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has indicated that Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial could return to the Manchester United side on Sunday.

Both players missed Monday's 2-0 FA Cup fifth-round win at Chelsea but have recovered from their injuries and are set to feature against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

"I hope and think Anthony will be ready and I hope Jesse will be ready because it's two different injuries," said Solskjaer.

"They've been doing some recovery work and want to play in this game. If they don't make it, it might be the same team as we played against Chelsea. Who knows?"

Liverpool, who are second in the Premier League table, welcome back Virgil van Dijk after he missed the midweek Champions League stalemate against Bayern Munich because of suspension.

Dejan Lovren remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Joe Gomez is continuing his recovery from a broken ankle.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer is expecting a very tight game against Jurgen Klopp's side on Sunday, adding: "For them, it's a big game and, for us, it's a big game. We want to be among the top four. We're just looking forward to another challenge for this team.

"We know we're in for a very tough game. They've been fantastic this season. They will know as well, to come to Old Trafford will be difficult. I think they will pay us respect and we will pay them respect. It's a team full of good players."

Manchester United, 1/1 to finish in the top four this season, can be backed at 21/10 to beat Liverpool and at 11/1 to win the match 2-1.
