Songne Yacouba set to resume full training with Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko striker Songne Yacouba is set to resume full training with the club at Adako Jachie on Tuesday after he was sidelined for weeks due to illness.

The Burkinabe international's return comes as a major boost to the Porcupine Warriors as they intensify preparations ahead of the second preliminary round game of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup match in December.

The goal poacher fell sick whiles on holidays in his home country, Burkina Faso, and has been on treatment since arriving in Kumasi last week.

He has been declared fit to commence light training and will join his colleagues when the squad resumes work after enjoying a day off on Monday.

Meanwhile, the former Ghanaian champions were handed a walkover victory in the preliminary round of the Caf Confederation Cup after Cameroonian Football Association failed to meet the deadline to present their representatives for the competition.

This means that the Kumasi based side will now play the winner between Kariobangi Sharks of Kenya and ARTA Solar of Djiobouti in the first round.

The first leg has been scheduled between December 14 and 16.
