South Africa coach Molefi Ntseki claims CAF should be applauded

South Africa head coach Molefi Ntseki says the Confederation of African Football (CAF) should be commended for their efforts for the resumption of the football matches.

The governing body announced that the 2021 Africa of Nations which was scheduled to take place in Cameroon has been postponed to next year due to coronavirus pandemic.

Most leagues on the continent are on a standstill, and with the dates for the final AFCON tournament and remaining games of the qualifiers yet to be communicated, there seems to be hope for coach Ntseki that things will soon be back to normal for football to resume.

"Remember for international football to be played, professional leagues have to be active, you can’t have it the other way round. National teams’ activities are guided by clubs – in short, no club football no international competition, it is that simple," he told SAFA Media.

"On the continent, there are a few leagues that are in action – and that tells you that international football is still far off. So we should applaud the CAF Executive for the efforts they are making for the resumption of the game – and all what they are doing is giving positive vibes that there will be football soon, and in this case soon is relative," the coach added.
