German side Wolfsburg have submitted a€20m bid for Napoli's wantaway striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to reports fromItalian Media outletGianluca Di Marzio.

The forward is expected to leave Naples in the current transfer window after struggling to fulfill his potential in Italy and having had little game time this season, Gabbiadini's chances of playing appear to have been cut even further after his club recently announced the signing Genoa'sLeonardo Pavoletti.

At 25, Gabbiadini appears to have a long career ahead of him and he has been linked with a host of clubs over the last month, most notably Premier League outfit Southampton.

However, as Saints continue to monitor the player's future at Napoli, Wolfsburg are understood to have made the first move for Gabbiadini and have reportedly submitted an offer to end the Italian's nightmare stint withMaurizio Sarri's side.

The German club are willing to pay as much as€20m for the player's services, as they look to find a solution to their goalscoring problems and navigate themselves away from a potential relegation battle in the second half of the season.

Southampton themselves are looking for a replacement for top scorer Charlie Austin, who suffered a long-term shoulder injury during his team's 1-1 draw with Hapoel Beer Sheva last month.

With Wolfsburg now making a bid, Saints bossClaude Puel will need to decide quickly whether or not Gabbiadini is the solution to his team's problems in front of goal, as Napolilook to recoup the £11m they paid for new arrival Leonardo Pavoletti and offload the striker in the coming weeks.
