The 24-year-old is still yet to sign a new contract, with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United both thought to be very keen, and the apparent problem with Messi will only fuel even more speculation of an exit.

This update came from the mouth of Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, editor at OK Diario, who told El Chiringuito on Spanish network La Sexta just what the state of affairs is between Neymar and Messi.

"The relationship between Messi and Neymar are not good,"Inda is reported to have said.

"Messi doesn't like Neymar's ego, who, in turn, doesn't see how he could win the Ballon d'Or alongside Messi.

"Relations with Luis Enrique are even worse than with Messi."

For Barcelona, the exit rumours continue to be a non-issue.

A number of players have spoken with confidence in recent weeks and months that Neymar will commit his future to the Catalans in due course, while Susana Monje, the club's vice-president of finance, has revealed a sale is not something that has been planned for.

Economically, you have already known the margins for a while. We have not studied the impact of a hypothetical loss of Neymar. We do not contemplate it," Monje is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

Neymar, who is also still under investigation over tax evasions charges, missed Brazil's nightmare at the Copa America earlier this month after choosing to represent the Selecao at the Olympic Games on home soil in August instead.
