Asante Kotoko coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor says he won the game with unstrategic players after his outfit defeated the Phobians 5-4 on penalties to qualify to the final of the GFA Normalisation Committee Special Competition on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors have reached the final of the competition after beating their Hearts on penalty shootouts following a 1-1 draw in regulation time at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking after the match, the former AshantiGold and Hearts of Oak gaffer furiously replied coach Kim Grant who has recently claimed his outfit purchase strategic players whiles the former buy unstrategic players.

"We came into the game knowing that Hearts could pass the ball very well. We utilised their weakness to our strength which was through their flanks," C.K Akonnor told reporters.

He continued "We worked so hard in that. Unfortunately, there were things we couldn't do right. We couldn't keep the ball. So we struggled by chasing the ball. What was perfect with us was our defencemen. The way we defended was perfect."

"We looked for the opportunity and luckily for us, we had the man who has been scoring for us. He (Abdul Fatawu Shaffiu) came back and delivered."

"I came with unstrategic players and I have won against those who sign strategically," he ended.

Asante Kotoko will play Karela United in the final of the Special Competition on Sunday, June 30.
