Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-min has been presented with the Premier League's Player of the Month award for September after a dazzling run of form.

Son, who missed the very beginning of the new campaign after competing for South Korea at the Olympics in August, becomes the first Asian player to receive the prize.

He finished ahead of Adam Lallana, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Theo Walcott in the final standings, which included a public vote as well as the input of an expert panel.

Despite finishing last season on a low and being the subject of various exit rumours all summer, the 24-year-old grabbed two goals and an assist on his very first outing of 2016/17 as Spurs comfortably beat Stoke by a 4-0 score-line.

He was then a standout performer in the narrow 1-0 win over Sunderland a week later and followed that up by finishing the Premier League's September fixtures with another two goals, this time in a 2-1 victory against Middlesbrough.

"I can't believe it, it's unbelievable for me to get the award and it's just an unbelievable feeling," Son said. "This last September was a great month for me. I'm very thankful to my team-mates, the gaffer and the coaching staff. It's just a great feeling.
