SSNIT sues Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities

Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities have reportedly been sued by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) over nonpayment of Elvis Opoku’s contribution.

The Royals owes Opoku four months outstanding salaries plus a signing-on fee.

Opoku was one of the marquee signings by Legon Cities before the commencement of last season but both parties are currently at loggerheads.

Opoku accused the club of failing to honour part of the contract and filed a complaint with Player Status Committee who ruled in the player’s favour by ordering

The committee gave the club a 14-day ultimatum which has elapsed without Legon Cities paying Opoku.

The committee also ordered Elvis to return to the club and honour the last season on the contract. He has been training with the club although it's clear he won't be used for games.

According to reports, Legon Cities have been served a writ of summons after a whistleblower lodged a complaint at SSNIT over the failure of paying the midfielder’s contribution.

He is yet to play a single game after 6 matches for the club.

Opoku signed a two-year contract with Legon Cities from Aduana Stars.

Further report indicates striker Richmond Antwi who had his contract terminated at the end of the season is yet to receive his entitlement
