Star Madrid provided our salaries during lockdown period- Jeff Tierro

Star Madrid captain Jeff Tierro has revealed that the Division One League club made the effort to pay salaries of he and his teammates after the league was cancelled.

In March 2020, the football season in Ghana was put to a halt due to the presence of COVID-19. In June that year, seasons were cancelled altogether.

During that tough period, there were struggles to pay player salaries by clubs.

In the case of Star Madrid, there wasn't much of a problem according to the full back.

"It was hard time staying home without football," he told footballghana.com in an exclusive interview.

"In salary commitment, our management was very professional to us. It was not 100% but at least 50% and they were even checking up on us every week to know whether we were fine."

"They constantly advised us to be very careful and obey the covid protocols. In some cases, they paid more than the 100% salary."

Star Madrid will begin their league campaign on Wednesday.
