Steve Cook Hints Complacency Has Led to Bournemouth's Dip in Form and Claims It's Time to 'Regroup'

Bournemouth centre back Steve Cook has suggested that he and his teammates only have themselves to blame for a slump in form, which has seen them pick up a single point from their last three matches.

The Cherries were left stunned by winless Sunderland last Saturday as the Black Cats claimed a surprise 2-1 win at the Vitality stadium. Despite going a goal down and later having Steven Pienaar sent off with the score at 1-1, David Moyes' team snatched their first win of the Premier League season.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is "baffled".

Bournemouth have been receiving widespread praise after a promising start to their own league campaign, but have now lost back-to-back matches, which leaves them just two points above the relegation zone.

Speaking about the club's poor form, Steve Cook told theDaily Mailthat it's time for the team to start working hard after growing complacent in the last few weeks.

He said: "We have to re-evaluate things now. Maybe we thought we were better than we are. It's hard to find any positive points.

"We have a long two weeks now then we have three very tough games coming up. So we will have to regroup and try and go again and try and turn these two defeats around.

"We have got to regroup. We can sulk and not improve or we can graft for these next two weeks and see where we have gone wrong."

On the defeat to Sunderland, Cook lamented his side's inability to take advantage of Steven Pienaar's red card.

He added:"We should be winning these games against a side with 10 men. If we want to be in the top half of the league we have to be doing better than that."

Bournemouth will now hope that the two weeks international break will help put their recent woes behind them and they can put in a much improved performance in their next league match where they will travel north, to face Stoke City.
