Striker Abdul-Aziz Yakubu leaves Rio Ave to join Al Ahly

Ghana's Abdul-Aziz Yakubu has left Portugal for Egypt to sign for Egyptian giants Al Ahly. Al Ahly has successfully completed all negotiations with the Ghanaian striker and Rio Ave Futebol Clube.

According to reports Abdul-Aziz Yakubu is expected to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract in a deal worth around 2.5 million euros. Abdul-Aziz Yakubu will undergo medicals in Cairo before signing his contract.

Yakubu has been in fine form for Rio Ave this season as they make their comeback to the Portuguese Primeira Liga. In 15 appearances in all competitions, the 24-year-old has eight goals and three assists.

He was equally impressive the previous season when he scored 11 goals in 33 games to help Rio Ave win the Portuguese second-tier league and gain promotion.

Abdul-Aziz Yakubu started his professional career with Portuguese club Futebol Clube de Vizela he made 16 appearances and scored two goals from 2017 to 2019.

He played youth football with Red Bull Ghana and Charity Stars.
