Sunderland Agree £7m Fee Over Seasoned Sevilla Midfielder Vicente Iborra

Sunderland have agreed a £7m fee with Sevilla over the signing of Vicente Iborra, according toSky Sports


New Black Cats boss David Moyes revealed last week that a bid had been made for the player's services, with him having urged the club to chase down new signings before the close of the transfer window.

The 28-year-old Spaniard has been at Sevilla since 2013, and has been part of the club's three successive Europa League wins. He came on as a late sub against Liverpool in last season's final.


Iborra made 41 appearances forLos Nervionenses last season, scoring nine goals in the process, including a winner against Barcelona. He is known for his threat from set pieces, aerial prowess and good finishing.


Sevilla chairman Jose Castro confirmed that a bid had been made last week, butkept mum on the identity of the bidder.


"We have an important offer for Iborra. In this moment it isn't clear if we will accept it and we will wait to see what happens in next few days," he said.


The bid has since been accepted, and Iborra is expected to join Sunderland before Wednesday's deadline.

Moyes, who has already signed six players since taking over, has told fans that there is still more to come. The Scot has recruited Javier Manquillo, Andan Januzaj,Papy Djilobodji, Steven Pienaar,Donald Love and Paddy McNair, and is still after one or two more signings,


"I have a lot of trust in [chief executive] Martin Bain, who has done an awful lot of good work and spent hours at the training ground," said Moyes.


"We will get some business done. We have one or two offers in for players just now."
