Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole has said that 'there are no excuses' for his side's poor start to the season.
The Black Cats are rock-bottom of the Premier League after 11 games, picking up just one win and two draws alongside a number of woeful performances.
But Cattermole believes Sunderland have 'amazingstaff and incredible fans' andclaims that this is not the time to dwell on their poor start.
The 28-year-old was at the Stadium of Light during the international break, showing aroundIraq War veteran and Sunderland fanSteve Sutton, whose love for his club hasn't waned despite suffering with PTSD.
The pair walked past a picture showing celebrations following Sunderland's 3-2 win over Chelsea in May, to which Cattermole said, as quoted in theDaily Mail:"That was the game,"
"Coming back from 2-1 down, that was when we knew we'd stay up. Some noise that day."
The former England under-21 midfielder added:"I get fed up reading about the problems at the club. This is the problem, that is the problem, he is the problem.
"Let's not use any of that as an excuse. When you go on the pitch it is your responsibility. You can't keep saying, 'There are other problems at the club' when things don't go well.
"I look around and what do I see? An unbelievable training ground. Amazing staff. Incredible fans. I don't see any problems here.
"So it becomes too easy to say, 'Sunderland - they've got problems'. I'm sick of hearing it.
"If you're here, working or playing for the club, then do your bit. We can't moan about things that have happened in the past, those decisions have been made, get on with it.
"As players we have to go out there and do it; for yourself, for the club and for the fans."
Sunderland will host strugglers Hull City upon the return from the international break, where a win is surely needed for David Moyes if he is to cling on to his first Premier League job since being sacked by Manchester United in 2014.
