Swansea boss Paul Clement ready to hand Jordan Ayew debut against Amartey's Leicester

Swansea coach Paul Clement says he is ready to hand Jordan Ayew his first chance to make a name for himself despite the striker having just three days to get to know his new teammates ahead of Sunday’s survival showdown with Leicester City.

But the Swans boss will be without a trio of injured stars for the televised clash with the Foxes that could have a huge say on their bid to pull away from relegation worries.

Ayew trained with the rest of Paul Clement’s side for the first time on Thursday after arriving at the club 24 hours earlier following his involvement in Ghana’s run to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ayew, who completed a swap deal involving Neil Taylor and up to £5m to secure a move from Aston Villa on deadline day, had already told boss Clement he was ready to make a delayed debut.

And, after undergoing fitness tests following his arrival in South Wales earlier this week, Clement says he’s seen enough to know the ex-Marseille man can play a part against Claudio Ranieri’s dethroned champions.

Clement said: “He is in good shape, he arrived yesterday and spent it with medical and physical department doing the relevant checks. He has trained this morning, he is ready to go and will be involved at weekend, although I’ve not decided if he will start.”

Clement says he will spend the next few days trying to hammer home his tactics into the new-boy, with the former Real Madrid No.2 adding: “His fitness is fine, it’s about getting information into him so he can go out and do his job. I see him being involved but not sure to what degree. If I see he is tuned in to what we are asking we will take it from there.”
