Swansea City manager Steve Cooper is hopeful Ghana skipper Andre Ayew will be available for Wednesday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Ayew missed the weekend win over Rotherham with a muscle strain, but he could yet play a part against the Owls.

However, speaking ahead of the game, coach Cooper pointed out he will not be risked if he is not 100 per cent fit giving the relentless upcoming schedule.

"We’re hopeful over the lads who missed the game at the weekend," Steve Cooper told the club's official website.

"It is still a bit inconclusive, we’ve still got a couple of days but we’re working hard to get them ready.

He added, "It’s too early to say yet, but we’re hopeful."

"We have a full day of rehab today and the physios are working hard as we also have players recovering from the game at the weekend."

Ayew scored five goals in 11 matches so far and currently stands as the club's top scorer this term. Last season, he similarly finished the campaign as the side’s top scorer.
