Swansea City coach Steve Cooper downplays long-term injury concerns over striker Andre Ayew.

Head coach Steve Cooper revealed that because of muscle stress, Andre Ayew's return from international duties with Ghana was precautionary.

Cooper says he'll wait before making a call on the availability of top scorer Ayew, who missed Sudan's 1-0 AFCON qualifier loss in Ghana on Thursday, having scored both goals earlier in the week in the Black Stars' 2-0 draw.

"They'd had a very busy schedule, played every minute of every league game to now, and then went into a full-on international camp," Cooper said.

"Naturally they are going to be tired and, like everybody, they're at risk of fatigue and …. can start feeling some strains and muscle soreness," he added.

Andre Ayew 30, has started all the games in the 2020/2021 Championship for Swansea scoring five goals and assisting once.
