Swansea City striker Borja Baston has urged Ghana skipper Andre Ayew to stay at the club for the 2019/20 season.

Ayew, who bagged a brace for the Swans in the Carabao Cup last week as well as providing two assists in their win over Queens Park Rangers in the Championship on Wednesday has been in top form so far this season.

The Welsh club is eager to keep the former West Ham United forward at the Liberty Stadium in bid to help their quest to the English Premier League for the 2020/21 season.

Baston says the 29-year-old's quality will be important to the club should he stay despite interests from other clubs which has been confirmed by the manager Steve Cooper.

"Andre is a really good player," Baston said as reported by Dai Sports.

“I’m really happy to play with him and I hope he stays here with the team and with me.

“I think we have a lot of high-quality players here. The gaffer has a lot of options in the front line.

"He has Andre, me, Sam [Surridge], Aldo [Kalulu], Kris [Peterson], Wayne [Routledge] – a lot of good players.”

Second-place Swansea City will host Birmingham City in matchday five of the English Football League  Championship.
