Taggart improving under Aloisi

Brisbane Roar striker Adam Taggart is pushing himself to be more consistent as he chases a recall to the Australia side.

Taggart has made a good start to life with the Roar, after moving from Perth Glory during the off-season.

He's netted three goals in the opening four rounds, and is second on the goalscorers' list.

The 25-year-old won the A-League Golden Boot in 2013/14 while he was with Newcastle Jets, showing form that helped earn him a move to Fulham.

The professionalism and the detail he goes into is something that I'm learning off every day.

Things didn't work out for him in England and he returned to Australia to sign for Perth before the 2016/17 campaign.

He then showed his goalscoring touch hadn't deserted him as he netted 12 in 24 games that season, and last term he scored eight in 14 matches for the Glory.

Taggart is unlikely to win back his Socceroos spot for the Asian Cup defence at the start of next year, but he's not giving up on his international ambitions.

He says the way to achieve his potential is to keep working hard and learn everything he can from former Socceroos striker John Aloisi who is his club coach.

Speaking of Aloisi, Taggart said: "The professionalism and the detail he goes into is something that I'm learning off every day just tweaking and tightening my game in areas that I need to.

"Obviously I'd like to be part of the Socceroos but you need to be playing well for your football club week in week out - not just small periods, and for a few games here and there, you need to be consistent," added the seven-cap international.

"That's what I'm focused on to be honest then other rewards will follow if I can do that."

Taggart has now scored 69 goals in 96 A-League games, and says he feels the fittest he's ever been.

Brisbane are 14/1 to win the Grand Final.

The Roar are 21/10 to win their next game against Melbourne City, who are 6/5 with the draw 5/2.
