Asante Kotoko midfielder Richard Boadu says it means a lot to him to captain the club however the captaincy comes comes with a lot of responsibilities.

Last season, Abdul Ganiu Ismail was the captain of the Reds and led the team to lift the Ghana Premier League title at the end of the season.

But prior to the 2022/23 season, Asante Kotoko announced that Boadu will lead the club and will be deputised by four other players including Yussif Mubarik and goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad.

"The captaincy means a lot to me but it comes with a lot of responsibilities because being a player for Kotoko isn’t an easy task so to say, so I will just have to adjust to the role of a captain and what it demands," Boadu said.

Asante Kotoko will host RC Kadiogo in the return leg encounter of the CAF Champions League at the Baba Yara stadium on Sunday.

The winner of the two-legged tie will face the winner of the game between Gaborone United Sporting Club and AS Vita Club of DR Congo in the next round of the competition.
