Kotoko Express editor, Jerome Otchere, highlighted on the need for Kotoko administrators to do the necessary work to put Kotoko ahead of arch rivals Hearts of Oak.
He believes that Kotoko has to be ahead of Hearts in everything.
“It has to be made clear that no administrator in Kotoko can run away from [being better than Hearts of Oak]. Every Kotoko fan wants to see the team beat Hearts of Oak anywhere and anytime the two teams. But we also have to understand that to beat your rival, you need a certain level of strength," he told Joy FM.
"Hearts of Oak even if they are collapsing, they will resurrect when they are about to face Asante Kotoko. To get to that point [beating Hearts consistently], some things have to be done. If it is recruitment, Kotoko have to make sure they do what is necessary to get the best players out there. If it is coaching, Kotoko must get the best. Even in branding we have to beat them."
He did however, state that it should not be the end of the world if Kotoko does not beat Hearts immediately.
If we are not able to beat Hearts once or twice, that should not be the end of Asante Kotoko. My strategy has always been that, whatever plan you have for the club must be made clear and you have to be working on those plans.”
