Captain for Obuasi Ashanti Gold, Shafiu Mumuni has disclosed that he will mirror his performance at his club to the Black Stars when he is given the opportunity to feature for the national team in their upcoming assignment.
The country’s senior national team is preparing for two consecutive Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in November.
Shafiu Mumuni who won the golden boot award at the recently held WAFU Cup of Nations tournament in Senegal has been handed his maiden call-up by head coach James Kwesi Appiah.
The striker who was left shocked after finding his name on the 23-man squad says he will give out his best for the team just as he has been doing for Ashgold and the Black Stars B team.
“This morning I saw my name in the squad and I was shocked. It is due to hard work and determination.
“The Shafiu you see in Ashantigold and the WAFU, you will see the same Shafiu in the senior national team camp”, the forward shared.
He is in fine form and will likely get the chance to feature for the Stars in any of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
