To date, the legendary Wilberforce 'Willie' Mfum is the only Black Stars captain who was made to swear an oath before being handed the enviable armband.
The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko deadly forward is remembered for the power of his shots as well as that famous brace in the finals of the 1963 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which Ghana won.
Speaking to Sun TV GH, Wilberforce Mfum has looked back to the days leading to his naming as the captain for the Black Stars. According to him, he was contacted by the then Ghana FA Chairman Ohene Gyan and asked to travel to Accra.
At a ceremony, he was made to swear an oath before being named as the new captain for the Black Stars team.
