The team is stronger when Okyere Wriedt is playing, says Willem II coach Zeljko Petrovic

The head coach for Willem II Tilburg, Zeljko Petrovic has been impressed with the performance of Kwasi Okyere Wriedt and believes the team is stronger when the Ghana international plays.

Signed from German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich last summer, the striker has not had the expected impact as a result of several injury setbacks he has suffered.

Last Friday, he was left on the bench and only introduced in the second half when Willem II suffered a 6-0 defeat to FC Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Starting the next match on Wednesday, Kwasi Okyere Wriedt had a good game, and excelled as the team drew 1-1 against ADO Den Haag.

Having been impressed with the performance of the forward, Willem II coach Zeljko Petrovic has admitted that Wriedt gives his team strength when he plays.

“Because I thought that was a better option for that game [against Utrecht]. But as we have seen, in all respects it was not what we had imagined against FC Utrecht. When Kwasi joined the team, something happened. Also in earlier competitions. So it seems logical to me that he will be in the base on Wednesday,” the gaffer shared.

This season, Kwasi Okyere Wriedt has featured in 13 matches for Willem II Tilburg in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has scored five goals and will need to score more if the club is to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
