Thibaut Courtois has once again refuted suggestions that he is eyeing a move back to Spain - despite the Chelsea star admitting he still missed playing for Atletico Madrid.

The goalkeeper helped the Blues reach the summit of the Premier League on Saturday evening after securing five clean sheets in a row, before the Londoners were overtaken by Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Courtois joined up with the Belgium national side in the wake of Chelsea's 5-0 drubbing of Everton at Stamford Bridge, but spoke to two Spanish radio stations on Monday ahead of meeting up with his international teammates to discuss footballing matters.

In an interview with Onda Cero, the 24-year-old revealed that he could be open to a return to former loan side Atletico in the future, but insisted he was happy to remain in England, whilst adding that he thought he had improved as a player during his time with Chelsea.

He said: Perhaps one day I can return “ who knows? But right now I'm very happy at Chelsea. I wish Atleti the best. I miss Madrid, I left many friends there, but I knew my future was in England.

Since I left Atleti, I have improved my game with my feet considerably and I have matured a lot as a person. Right now I've gone five games without conceding a goal in the Premier League and I'm delighted¦ The team is doing well right now, I want to win the title with Chelsea.

Meanwhile, in an separate chat with Cadena Cope, the shot stopper rejected speculation that has linked him with a move to La Liga giants and Atletico's rivals Real Madrid.

He said: I never had anything with Real Madrid. I did not see anything published, but I never had any contact with Real Madrid. I am happy at Chelsea. Everything is going very well ” it is a great club. There is no reason not to be happy at Chelsea. You never know what will happen in the future, but at the moment I am very well, in a very good atmosphere.

And, asked again about a potential return to the Vicente Calderon stadium, Courtois added that he had no immediate plans to move back to the continent.

He said: There was never any talk about a possible return to Atletico. [Jan] Oblak is doing very well and I am happy about that. These are rumours that come out from people who do not know anything.
