Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has hit out at his team after an error strewn performance saw them drop yet more points at home to Augsburg on Tuesday evening.

Ji Dong-won had given the visitors a surprise first-half lead and although Dortmund equalised soon after the break throughOusmane Dembele, they wasted numerous guilt-edged chances, meaning that they had to settle for just one point.

With the top two teams in the Bundesliga meeting on Wednesday evening, Tuchel's side went into the game with high hopesof making up some ground on either RB Leipzig or Bayern Munich, but were left to rue yet more dropped points which means that their title aspirations could well be over already.

Speaking after the match, the Dortmund manager lamented the errors his team madeand didn't hold back when sharing his thoughts on the performance.

Tuchel told reporters (as quoted byGoal.com):"We started very well and then completely lost the plot. Why I do not know.

"We made an incredible number of errors. We are regularly punished and that makes things difficult at times. We need consistency in the competitions.

"I think that the game really reflects the season so far. In almost every game there are phases where we miss things.

"We made some very simple mistakes, bad passes and simple fouls. After we secured the ball, we switched very badly from defence to offence."

Dortmund will now stay unbeaten at home across all competitions in 2016:

The draw means that Dortmund move up to fourth, although they could fall as low as sixth, should either Hoffenheim or Hertha Berlin gain at least a pointfrom their respective fixtures on Wednesday evening.

Tuchel's side will now head into the winter break at least 10 points behind joint leadersLeipzig and Bayern, although that gap could be extended even further, should either side claim the three points from their crucial meeting.
