Ghana target Timothy Fosu-Mensah is hoping for a successful campaign at Manchester United this season, despite seeing no action under Jose Mourinho thus far.

The versatile Dutchman born to Ghanaian parents is yet to make a single competitive squad under the Portuguese tactician in 2016/17 and it has been suggested his progress may stall at Old Trafford.

Fosu-Mensah burst onto the scene under Louis van Gaal towards the back end of last season and made 10 first-team appearances for the club.

But he believes he’s progressing well this season, even with his lack of action.

‘I have not played much but I train with the first team and do everything with the first team,’ he told Fox Sports.

‘I want to fight myself into the base.

‘I talk to Jose Mourinho about my development, which is going well. Mourinho has faith in me.’

While he may not be getting much in the way of match experience, Fosu-Mensah revealed he is learning a lot in training after the arrival of new striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
