Tony Pulis Claims That Liverpool's 2-1 Win Over West Brom Was Down to Baggies' Errors

West Brom managerTony Pulis has blamed sloppy first-half errors from his side as the reason for their 2-1 loss at Anfield.

An excellent Sadio Mané goal and Phillipe Coutinho's strike put Liverpool in charge in the first half, and Gareth McAuley's late finish was only a consolation in the end.

"In the first half I thought we were okay, it's just two mistakes and Fletch[er] and Yac[ob] get caught flat, and there's no depth when the ball's played through." Pulis toldBBC Sport.

"The second one - we know they're going to press you around your box, so our mistakes and it ricochets and it's finished well. That was their two shots first half, though they had good possession."

West Brom showed very little going forward, mustering their first shot in the 69th minute of the game.

"It's the quality at times when we get the ball to get in their final third, and that little bit more taking your time and be a little bit more patient with your passes, which was disappointing. Second half we had a go, opened up more at our end and Ben's made some great saves."

"I felt we were waiting all the time when we got the ball, we never went forward enough, we never got Chadli around Solomon enough. In the second half, at least we caused some problems."

Gareth McAuley's late goal did have the Kop in unrest for a few anxious minutes, as it appeared that Albion might steal a late equaliser as well.

"If you get a goal, it's them on the back foot then. Could have done with coming a bit earlier."
