Ghanaian attacker Joseph Paintsil has been lauded by top Italian magazine Gazzetta dello Sport for his performance for KRC Genk last Tuesday in the Uefa Champions League against Napoli.

The Ghana U-23 star showed fine form for his club when they suffered a 4-0 defeat to the Italian giants at the Estadio San Paolo in the top-tier European competition.

At the end of the day, Joseph Paintsil earned applause from both Belgian and Italian tabloids.

Belgium’s biggest tabloid Voetbalmagazine shared, “Only Joseph Paintsil showed a positive note, with actions like we didn't see them this season with the Belgian champion, but that is not enough to make a sufficient impression to already write his name correctly”.

Top Italian portal Gazzetta dello Sport were also impressed with the display of the Ghanaian and tagged his performance as “Paintsic”,

"His performance already shows what people at Genk have known for a long time: that you have to give a newcomer time to adjust and cannot judge after six months or a year. It makes Genk hope that next season, if everyone has found their place and is fully established, has a better team again than this year. "

The overall performance of the Genk team saw then finish bottom of Group E with just one point as they crashed out of the Uefa Champions League.
