Torino attacker set for Besiktas switch

Torino attacking midfielder Adem Ljajic is due for a medical in Istanbul ahead of an initial loan move to Besiktas with an obligation to make the deal permanent.

The Serbian international has played just under half an hour in the first two Serie A fixtures for the Granata, replacing Roberto Soriano against former club Inter.

As a result, his time in Turin may be coming to an abrupt end with Tuttomercatoweb and Sky Sport Italia revealing the 26 year-old is close to leaving Italy for Turkish side Besiktas.

Ljajic will be reunited with former Nerazzurri midfielder Gary Medel at Besiktas as they look to improve on their fourth place finish in the Turkish domestic league last season.

Besiktas are also hoping to improve on their record in European competitions and are hopeful Ljajic can inspire them to new heights in the Europa League.

Torino coach Walter Mazzarri has started the season intent on using a 3-5-2 formation, a set-up that doesn’t necessarily suit Ljajic.
