Medeama’s duo of Daniel Amoah and Enoch Atta Agyei will boost the Ghanaian side’s chances when they clash with Group A leaders, TP Mazembe, in a crucial CAF Confederation Cup duel at the Sekondi Stadium in Essipon on Sunday.
The two key players have signed for Tanzanian giants, Azam FC, but will be available for Sunday’s all-important match to enable Medeama to secure a good result to help them achieve their semi-final dream.
While 18-year-old Amoah rejoined his teammates in Tarkwa after signing a three-year deal for the Tanzanian club last Friday, the nimble-footed Agyei is expected back home today.
According to the Chief Executive of Medeama, James Essilfie, Agyei, who signed a pre-contract last month, could only join his new club in January next year after attaining 18 years, while Amoah will join Azam FC immediately after Sunday’s game.
The two players were in a flashy form when Medeama played Young Africans of Tanzania over two legs in the Confederation Cup last month, with steel defender Amoah capping it all up with a goal in the return leg at Essipon.
Amoah was also a member of the Black Satellites side which was recently eliminated from the African Youth Championship qualifiers by Senegal.
In a separate interview, the president of Medeama, Moses Armah (Mospacka), was satisfied with Azam FC’s deal, describing it as a good platform for the two young players to develop their careers.
According to him Azam’s Spanish coach, Zeben Hernandez, is impressed with the qualities of the duo and hopes to develop them for the European market.
Medeama, currently tied in second place with five points, need to beat TP Mazembe at home on Sunday to brighten their semi-final chances.
The Congolese, who comfortably lead the table with 10 points, are expected to arrive tomorrow.
