Twitter Lays Into Cristiano Ronaldo After He Appears to Appeal for Offside Against His Own Teammate

The internet doesn't take much encouragement to laugh at Real Madrid's preening superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese forward makes sure he is never far away from the spotlight, but he took his selfishness to a new level during his side's 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday night.

Zinedine Zidane's side looked set to be held by the Basque outfit, before Alvaro Morata's grabbed the winner, with seven minutes remaining, but Ronaldo stunned fans by appearing to appeal for his own teammate's goal to be chalked off for offside.

The former Manchester United man raised his hand and turned straight to the assistant referee, like the most seasoned centre-half, imploring the officials to rule out Morata's scrappy goal.

And people think we wanted Ronaldo. Worse teammate you can ever have: arrogant, selfish, boastful, petty, attention-seeking and wasteful.

Ronaldo is selfish, his team won 5-0 he didn't celebrate cause he didn't score and now Morata scores a winner he appeals for offside...

Naturally, social media was not about to let Ronaldo get away with what looks like his most selfish and self-centred outburst yet.

Any ideas what Ronaldo asking for here as Morata bundles in the winner? https://t.co/8fuZUF4r8E

The Bilbao clash was Ronaldo's fourth successive match without scoring, and the goal drought is clearly bringing out the worst in the 31-year-old.
