U-23 AFCON: CAF boss Ahmad Ahmad touch down in Egypt ahead of opening ceremony

President for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Ahmad Ahmad has arrived in Egypt today ahead of the opening ceremony of the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which comes off on Friday, November 8, 2019.

The 8-nation tournament is set to start tommrrow right after the opening ceremony which is expected to sell the rich Egyptian culture as well as that of the entire African continent.

Hours to the big day, President Ahmad Ahmad has arrived in Cairo where the opening ceremony will take place.

He will be joined by several big names including former Eritrea Eelunga star of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Edgar Watson, a former player of Uganda for the tournament's opener.

The ceremony will take place at the Cairo International stadium which will also host the opening game of the tournament between host nation Egypt and Mali.

Then in the second game of the day, Ghana will take on its counterpart from Cameroon to complete he first round of matches for Group A.

The top three teams at the end of the tournament will have the opportunity of featuring at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
