Ghana’s U-23 team head coach Ibrahim Tanko has assured that his Black Meteors side will give their best effort today when they lock horns with South Africa to ensure they keep their hopes of qualifying to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games alive.

The two countries missed out on securing automatic qualification to the next Games after losing their respective semi-final matches earlier this week.

Now set to face off for a third-place finish at the ongoing CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, both Ghana and South Africa are gunning for the crucial win.

In pre-match press congress, Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko says his lads will give off their best effort to seek the needed victory.

“It’s our last game in the tournament and it’s also a game that can qualify us to the Olympics so we will put in our best efforts to secure the ticket”, the gaffer said.

He added, “We know it won’t be easy because both teams have been good in the tournament”.

The big match between Ghana and South Africa comes off this afternoon at the Cairo International Stadium and will kick off at 14:30 GMT.
