U-23 AFCON: Ghana coach Ibrahim Tanko names 21-man squad for tournament

Black Meteors of Ghana head coach Ibrahim Tanko has named his 21-man squad for the 2019 Africa U23 Cup of Nations to be staged in Egypt from November 8 to 22.

The 21-man team consist of 12 foreign-based players and 9 locally based players.

Black Stars and Córdoba CF striker Kwabena Owusu was named in the squad alongside US based striker Ropapa Mensah as well as Samuel Obeng and Frank Arhin as the four strikers.

Asante Kotoko trio Kwame Baah, Ibrahim Danlad and Habib Mohammed made the final list with two players from Hearts of Oak namely Richmond Ayi and William Dankyi.

Ghana will face Cameroon their Group A opener on the November 8 before playing hosts Egypt and Mali on 11 and 14 November respectively.

The top three teams at the  tournament will qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Midfielders: Evans Osei Wusu (Tema Youth), Simon Zibo (Vitoria Guimaraes, Portugal), Nurudeen Abdul-Aziz (Vision FC), Emmanuel Addoquaye Lomotey (Extremadura, Spain), Yaw Yeboah (Celta Vigo, Spain), Evans Mensah (HJK Helsinki, Finland), Michael Agbekpornu (Dreams FC).
