Ghana played the first match of the tournament last Thursday and lost 3-0 to the USA in a game where the Princesses had to play with 10 women for most parts of the game.

Today, the head coach for the team, Coach Ben Fokuo made a number of changes in hopes of getting the result that will keep hopes of progressing to the knockout stage of the tournament alive.

Despite putting up a very good performance in the first half, Ghana could not get the needed equaliser.

After recess, Japan recovered from the many missed chances in the second half and scored two times.

All the goals came from penalties awarded to the defending champions in the 61st and 72nd minutes respectively.

Attacking midfielder Maika Hamano stepped up for both kicks and succeeded in scoring to lead Japan to a 2-0 win against Ghana at the end of the 90 minutes.

In the last match, Ghana will take on the Netherland for a chance to play for pride.

If the USA beats the Netherlands in the second group game, Ghana's eliminated from the tournament would be confirmed.
