Black Meteors assistant coach Godwin Attram is hoping his outfit will get eligible Black Stars players to augment their squad for the 2023 AFCON U23 tournament to be staged in Morocco.

The Ghana U23 have been drawn in Group A of the upcoming Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Black Meteors team have been drawn in the same group as host Morocco, Guinea and Congo.

Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko has 22 players at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence preparing for the tournament.

“The technical team led by Ibrahim Tanko, we have discussed these things and we feel that those who are under the age and are capable of helping the country why not?

“They must join the Black Meteors as well, a player like Kamaldeen Sulemana and others, there is a chance for them to join the team, we really hope that they will join and make an impact to support the country.

“The country needs this tournament to qualify for France, it is very important, we haven’t been able to qualify for the tournament, a country like Ghana, and it’s very bad.

“So we hope that calling them to come and join, they will give their hearts out, play very well, listen to the technical team and make something good out of it because it is good to be an Olympian.” Godwin Attram told Radio Gold Sports.

The tournament will serve as a qualification competition for next year's summer Olympic Games in Paris.

Ghana qualified for the tournament after beating Mozambique and Algeria in the qualifiers.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko is expected to name a strong squad for the competition, which begins on June 23 and ends on July 8, as Ghana eyes a return to the Olympic Games.

The Black Meteors last played at the Olympic Games in 2004 in Athens.
