U23 AFCON: Ghana’s target is to qualify for the Olympic Games but we want the trophy too – Ibrahim Tanko

The head coach of the Ghana U23 team, Coach Ibrahim Tanko has opened up on his targets for the 2023 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

With two days left for the start of the U23 AFCON in Morocco, the Black Meteors gaffer has indicated that the primary target is to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in France.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko adds that his team will also fight to win the U23 AFCON at the end of the tournament.

“The target is to qualify to the Olympic games but there’s also a trophy at stake so we are going for the ultimate and in doing so we want to qualify for the Olympic games,” Coach Ibrahim Tanko said as quoted on the website of the Ghana FA.

Meanwhile, Coach Ibrahim Tanko has appealed to Ghanaians to support the Black Meteors to achieve these targets.

“We are here to do our job and the best for the nation but we also need the support of Ghanaians,” Coach Tanko noted.

Ghana at the U23 AFCON is pitted in Group A and will compete with Morocco, Congo, and Guinea.
