VfL Osnabruck players on Sunday, December 19, 2021, walked off during a match against MSV Duisburg after one of the players, Aaron Opoku was racially abused.
The Ghanaian international is on loan at the German third-tier team from Bundesliga 2 side Hamburg SV.
Yesterday, he was selected to feature for VfL Osnabruck when the team faced MSV Duisburg.
During the game, a fan of MSV Duisburg racially abused Aaron Opoku to the disgust of his teammates.
To protest the abuse of the player, the teammates walked off the pitch to show solidarity.
To show they are not in favour of racism, the fan who abused Aaron Opoku was kicked out of the match venue with fans of Duisburg singing 'Nazis Out'.
Subsequently, Duisburg played an anti-fascist song to show their disgust at the incident.
Aaron Opoku according to the information gathered was upset by the incident and hence his teammates refused to continue the match.
