VIDEO: "Let’s support our own" – Fatawu Dauda calls for support for coach Kwesi Appiah

Published on: 10 December 2019

Ghana and Wa All Stars goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda has called on Ghanaians to back Black Stars head coach James Kwesi Appiah amidst calls that he should be axed.

The gaffer has been under fire since returning to the country without the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy from the tournament which was hosted in Egypt.

In a tournament where there were high hopes for the Black Stars, the team only managed to get to the Round of 16 and were booted out by Tunisia on penalties.

Since that time, calls for the sacking of coach Kwesi Appiah has heightened with many negatively criticizing his coaching methods.

In a recent interview on GhanaWeb’s Sports Check program, former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda has stressed the need for Ghanaians to support our own and hence back coach Kwesi Appiah to do the job.

“I keep on saying let’s love our own. It’s about believing in our coaches. In football, sometimes you win, lose or draw so let’s keep believing. So if another coach comes and we don’t win trophies, what happens?”, Dauda said.
