Phoenix Rising FC beat Reno 1868 FC 4-2 on Friday night to set a new record of 14 consecutive wins with in-form Ghanaian international, Solomon Asante bagging a brace from the penalty spot.

Playing as the home team, Phoenix took the lead on the 20th minute courtesy a curled shot from Junior Flemmings that beat goalkeeper Matt Bersano. The goal separated the two sides at half time despite some entertaining display from both sides.

Reno 1868 FC resumed the second half very well and managed to restore parity on the 53rd minute through Daniel Musovski

The eventual winners did not relent and piled pressure on the away team until red-hot attacker Solomon Asante coolly gave them the lead again from the penalty spot.

Minutes after that equalizer, Mustapha Dumbuya also got on the scoresheet to double the lead for his side, making the scoreline 3-1.

Reno pushed back and got on the scoresheet to reduce the deficit when Corey Hertzog found the back of the net on the 74th minute. Their hope of getting a third to pull level was shuttered when Phoenix captain Solomon Asante stepped up and converted a second penalty kick to complete his brace whiles making the scoreline 4-2.

The victors have now extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points.
