Ghana’s Black Galaxies secured a 2-0 first leg win against Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team on Sunday evening as the team targets qualification to the 2023 CHAN tournament in Algeria.

The Black Galaxies of Ghana locked horns with the Super Eagles B team of Nigeria this evening at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The encounter is the first leg of the final playoff round of the qualifiers for the 2023 CHAN tournament.

The team nicknamed the Black Galaxies have failed to qualify for all of the last three CHAN tournaments.

Today, Ghana hosted Nigeria in the first leg of the final playoff round of the qualifiers for next year’s tournament.

At the end of the first half, neither side managed to score with both teams proving to be tough nuts to crack.

Immediately after recess, the home team was awarded a penalty kick after a Nigerian player handled the ball in his area.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh accepted responsibility from the 12 yards and scored to give Ghana the lead.

Late into the game, Hearts of Oak teenager Suraj Seidu netted the second of the game to seal a 2-0 in for the Black Galaxies.

The win gives Ghana a good advantage heading into the second leg which will be played in Nigeria next weekend.
